PowrSync — How to Use

Last updated: 2026-06-25

PowrSync lets you keep an eye on the battery level of another device — a family member's phone, a kid's iPad, or a spare device — right from your own. This guide walks you through setup step by step.

What you need

One device acts as the Master (it watches battery levels) and the other as the Slave (it reports its own battery to whoever is watching). You can change a device's role later in Settings.

Step 1 — Create your account

Open PowrSync and tap Create Account. Enter your email and a password, then type the confirmation code we email you. Already have an account? Tap I already have an account and sign in instead.

Step 2 — Choose this device's role

After signing in, pick how this device will be used:

Tap Learn more about roles on the role screen if you're unsure. You can switch roles anytime from Settings → Role.

Step 3 — Pair your two devices

Pairing links a Master and a Slave using a QR code.

  1. On the Slave device, open Show QR Code.
  2. On the Master device, tap Add Device, then point the camera at the Slave's QR code (or tap to pick a QR image from Photos).
  3. When the code is recognized, the two devices are paired. The Slave now appears on the Master's home screen.

Step 4 — Check battery levels

On the Master, the home screen lists every paired device with its battery percentage and charging status. Pull down to refresh the whole list, or tap Refresh on a single device to request its latest reading right away.

Step 5 — Keep updates coming in the background

PowrSync refreshes battery readings in the background so the Master stays up to date even when the app is closed. This needs Background App Refresh turned on.

If it's off, you'll see a reminder banner on the home screen. Tap Open Settings on that banner, then turn on Background App Refresh for PowrSync. Once it's on, the banner disappears and updates resume.

Step 6 — Stop monitoring a device

On the home screen, tap the remove (trash) control on the device you want to unpair, then confirm. The pairing is removed for both devices — neither one keeps watching the other.

Step 7 — Manage your account
